North Port City
Nanyu City is the current capital and biggest city of the Territory of Eastocean Island. The territory’s international airport, Wannei International Airport, is also located in the Wannei District of Nanyu City. The city operates its own municipal underground railway system, and is also served by the Eastocean Island Railway, Nanyu-Dungyue Intercity Railway, and the Wannei Express Line.
The city consists of fourteen districts and three towns. Before the implementation of the Direct City System across the island in 2006, it was under the jurisdiction of the Nanyu Municipal Administrative District and the Mountain South Municipal Administrative District (corresponding to today’s Mountain South District, Yenpu Town, and other former areas of Mountain South City). When the Direct City System was established in 2006, the former Mountain South City was incorporated into Nanyu City. Before 1998, the Mountain South region and the present Five Islands City both belonged to Mountain South-Five Islands City. Today, Nanyu City and Five Islands City are collectively referred to as the “Southern Area,” though this is a regional designation rather than an official administrative division.
